I met Tom when I was an attending at SF general hospital, I thought- who is this “old guy” volunteering in the ER , even funnier and wiser beyond his years? We quickly became friends. Over the years we have mainly lived on opposite coasts from each other but Tom, despite his overwhelming schedule, always found time to make it to a surprise birthday party, my wedding or to get together for some fly fishing. Tom’s life enriched me and his memory will inspire me to appreciate every day, every friend, every stream just a bit more.
